Dr. Claire Michel, OD

Neuro-Developmental & Rehabilitative Optometrist

Dr. Claire is originally from Royal Oak, MI, and graduated from Michigan State University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology along with a Minor in Spanish. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University in 2022. During her time at IU, she was involved with Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) and enjoyed participating in school vision screenings in the local community. She deepened her passion for vision therapy during her fourth-year clinical externships in Louisville, KY, and the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit, MI. Following graduation, she moved to southern California to be the inaugural brain injury rehabilitation and vision therapy resident at Western University of Health Sciences. She enjoyed working with a variety of patients, educating and mentoring optometry students and treating the traumatic injury patients at the local rehabilitation hospital.

Dr. Claire enjoys furthering her education and working interprofessionally with others. She stays connected with the profession through membership and attendance at the annual meetings of the American Academy of Optometry, College of Optometrists in Vision Development, Neuro Optometric Rehabilitation Association, Optometric Extension Program, Michigan Optometric Association, American Optometric Association and Michigan Vision Therapy Study Group.

In her free time, she enjoys exploring West Michigan with her husband, Caleb, playing tennis, scrapbooking and spending time with family.
