InfantSEE®: Establishing a Lifetime of Healthy Eyes and Vision

Did you know? Participating optometrists under the InfantSEE® public program provide no-cost comprehensive eye exams for infants between 6 and 12 months of age, regardless of income status.

Just as sitting independently, crawling and babbling, baby's vision has stages of development too. There are important signs in vision development that should be evaluated with specialized equipment and procedures, which are not part of most vision screenings. During an InfantSEE comprehensive eye exam, a doctor of optometry will test for excessive or unequal amounts of nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, eye movement ability, eye health problems, and discuss patient and family history. Comprehensive eye and vision care is important to detect problems early to ensure babies have the opportunity to develop the visual abilities they need to grow and learn.

The American Optometric Association recommends scheduling an infant's first eye exam between six and twelve months of age, immediately after the eye undergoes rapid and profound changes and is therefore most vulnerable to interference with healthy development.

EagleEye is a proud supporter of the InfantSEE® program and we look forward to meeting your little one. Please call our office if you’d like more information or to schedule an appointment.

InfantSEE is a public health program, managed by Optometry Cares - The AOA Foundation, designed to ensure that eye and vision care becomes an integral part of infant wellness care to improve a child's quality of life.
